I think the reason I find so much enjoyment in writing and photography is the creative freedom each gives me to view the world around me. On my web site www.imagesbykenkc.com I share some of these special moments. I enjoy photographing wildlife and landscape. The beauty of a wild animal in its natural habitat, the sun in all its glories hues reflecting off a billowy cloud is simply mesmerizing. Capturing a wave as it breaks onto the beach in such a way that it conveys the sound of that particular instant to the viewer. Spending hours watching wildlife interact until that one special moment presents itself and I am able to capture and preserve it for others to see. My goal is to capture feelings and emotions not just a picture.
Over the years, I have also enjoyed training and riding our horses. The real joy for me is to take a young horse I am talking about Foals, weanlings, and yearlings and training them using a slow, progressive, and logical manner. Time is the keyword in training young horses in my opinion. Over time, you gain their trust and they will do what you ask of them without fear. In the end, they will make a trusted companion and give you years of friendship and enjoyment.
Likewise, writing gives me the same enjoyment. To be able to tell a story and in so doing allow the reader to lose themselves in the action and let the story move them along to a conclusion is exciting. To challenge their mind and emotions with unpredictable possibilities as to the story line is a challenging and exhilarating process. Then to preserve something others can read years later is very satisfying.
I have had many interests in my life. From flying airplanes, photography, art, training horses, and writing and feel I have taken something from each and grown as a person to who I am today. I also feel that each of my hobbies has given me an opportunity to share with others what I have seen, heard, felt, and experienced. That is what makes doing them so much fun. Follow me on my blog and twitter as my hobbies and research for my new book unfold.
